17 October 2019 | 0 comments | Posted by Lara Brunt in Hit the Road

Newlywed checklist

After your big day, you have to get your things together and pack for your honeymoon. Taking the time out from everything to simply enjoy life with your new partner has become a fundamental part of the newlywed experience. The frantic planning and organising of the wedding itself can take away from planning for things after the big day. Because of that is no surprise that newlyweds forget to pack essentials as they are leaving for their first trip as a married couple.

If you're planning on getting married or you're in the process and you're thinking about what to do for your honeymoon, then here are some essential factors newlyweds must not forget on honeymoon.

1. Budget

Most couples are planning on spending around about 20% of the total cost of most weddings. It was imperative to take some time to spend together, but also, you don't need to spend a thousand to fly somewhere luxurious right after the biggest and most expensive event you have ever hosted.

Of course, some honeymooners are willing to spend more money on flights and luxurious destination, and lovely accommodations once they arrived. 89% of couples want to be lazy and chill on their honeymoon, and for them, it is crucial to stay somewhere lovely enough to make relaxing and enjoying justified.

2. Clothing

The clothes you need to bring all depend on what kind of activities you are going to do while you are on your honeymoon. Here are some ideas of what to pack for various occasions:

A relaxing honeymoon

If you are going on a relaxing trip, you don't need to pack a lot of stuff. It is best to pack some comfortable clothes, shoes that are easy to walk around in, swimwear if you decide to go swimming or tanning and a fancier outfit if you are going for a romantic dinner.

An activity-filled honeymoon

Some newlyweds like to try much adventurous entertainment on honeymoon such as climbing, going to the jungle, or hiking canyons. You will need some sporty outfits, hiking, and regular shoes, of course, a fancy outfit if you decide to go to a romantic date and the essential thing that newlyweds often forget is a suitable bag like ones that Bags by Benson has to offer.

3. Destination

The destination will often rely on the activities the two of you would like to partake in and of course the budget. If you're unsure of the type of honeymoon would tickle your fancy then here are a few suggestions to consider, each with their own pros and cons.

Rocky Mountains

If you want to go for a high-altitude getaway, Rocky Mountains are the way to go. It has a lot of spooky history, and you can stay right in the middle of it. The Rocky Mountains have five amazing hot springs in which you can enjoy. There are a lot of amazing things that you can choose to do, like skiing, mountain biking, hiking, dog sledging, and fly fishing, all depending on the time of the year that you are there.

Fiji

Fiji has some of the most breathtaking beaches, and the most luxurious resorts you can stay at on the island. You can pick to stay at traditional Fiji villas where you can discover the true beauty that the island has, and you can go horseback riding. You can also do awesome things like Dragon sail boating, windsurfing, or hike through the magical rainforest. If you are interested in going snorkelling or scuba diving, you need to visit the Laucala Island. And if you like the thrill, you can go on a submarine ride.

Iceland

Iceland offers one of the unique activities you can think of when planning a honeymoon. You can go scuba diving between two tectonic plates. It has secret hot springs, hiking through lava fields and caves, or through a desert of black ash. There are endless options for adventurous couples from snowmobile rides to glacier hiking.

Maldives

We all have seen how beautiful the Maldives are in pictures. It has private villas, amazing crystal clear water, snow-white sand beaches, and the most beautiful sunsets. And because of its beautiful scenery, Maldives is one of the most popular honeymoon places for relaxing. You can relax and enjoy the beautiful beaches with cocktails and fancy dinner dates. But of course, you can go snorkelling and scuba diving and explore the beautiful island.

Honeymooners heaven

There are a lot of essential factors that newlyweds need to keep in mind when planning and going on your honeymoon. You need to figure out a budget, a destination that fits your budget, and what to pack. After you tackle those things, you are good to go and relax on your first trip as a married couple.
