5 Ways Being Outdoors Can Make You Healthier and Happier
03 October 2022 | 0 comments | Posted by Dea Muric in The Great Outdoors
The question we ask ourselves at times is:
“What makes us healthier and happier”.
Of course, there would be many things, but in particular, there is one singular that none of us can deny: “Nature”.
It’s a worrying fact that some people don’t fully use all the benefits of being outside or doing outdoor activities, which greatly affects their physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects.
Below we can see some very efficient ways in which the outdoors can make us healthier and happier by bringing us together with nature and showing how good habits can change our life rapidly in a very simple way. We can’t be happy if our immunity system is down or if we are dealing with health issues, so here are some tips to follow.
1. Boosting your immunity
Let’s start with the most important factor, which is immunity. By being outdoors in places like mountains, forests, the sea, lakes, rivers, etc., we get fresh air and stimulate our respiratory system to function even better; certainly, we feel more energetic and eager to practice this ritual more frequently.
When there is sun, it’s even better for us because we get vitamin D, which is essential for our bones, blood cells, and immune system. It is also a fundamental factor for our body in absorbing more minerals, such as calcium and phosphonium.
2. Cleaning your mind from negative thoughts
Nature is the ideal place for someone who is dealing with troubles in his daily life and also battling with negative thoughts. There are two specific inspiring elements that we get from nature and being outdoors: calmness and beautiful visuals.
Those have a massive role in making us happier and, of course also, healthier. Besides that, we see the world or people that surround us from a different perspective. This influences us to grow better patients when we face complicated situations throughout our existence. It’s a perfect place to find peace, and we are finally relieved!
3. Awakening your whole body
Our body, like our mind, needs to be fueled with activity. It’s a great feeling for each of us when we practice our favourite outdoor sports, like hiking, mountain climbing, yoga, running, and cycling, and to add more adventure, we can get a ride, for example, on a mini bike, which relieves all the daily stress.
The mix of freedom, exercise, and meditation increases our immunity system. If we spend more time near water, green areas, and in front of a waterfall, then we are very blessed. So turn off the electronic devices, and go on the journey.
4. Inspiring us to be more creative
It’s not to be surprised that after we have done an outdoor activity or just a simple walk in a natural landscape, we get a lot of inspiration to create, may it be in artistic aspects like painting, for example, literature aspects such as poems or stories, or even a conceptual thought about the world.
Innovative ideas make us feel not just happier but also keen to excel in everything we are focused on: private life, school, university, jobs, etc. We produce creative work, and that means a lot to us. Who doesn’t get inspired? Probably very few people.
5. Making us age slower
This may sound utopic, but it is kind of a symbolic way to describe the value of the outdoors in the ageing process. According to findings made by a psychology department, it is said that people with great vitality are more resistant to physical illness just because they spend more time in nature.
Outdoors can prevent you from different health risks, but it has other benefits, such as recovering from injuries faster. A big problem we face as people is convicting ourselves into thinking we are old and can’t do this or that. Just get along with nature, and everything will be fine.
For us, it is essential to living a happy life, and one of the best ways of doing so is by exposing ourselves to nature. Learn how to get the best from the outdoors, whether exercises, sports, or another recreational form you prefer.
Make this switch from this moment.
