Compelling Video Content For Small Business Marketing
03 May 2023 | 0 comments | Posted by Andre Oentoro in Industry Experts
Despite the limited resources, small businesses have a lot on their plate– from product development strategies to marketing strategies. In this fast-paced, cluttered digital world, marketing needs to be much more than same-old advertising.
Video marketing comes in handy for small businesses looking for a light-hearted way to boost brand awareness with such an affordable way. Not only because video content is dominating the internet but also because this type of format helps you to simplify complex topics and make them more digestible for audiences.
That all said, creating video content just for the sake of it is pointless. The internet is a chock-a-block place with videos, and the mainstream ones will easily get buried.
Therefore, the video needs to be appealing, and it needs extra effort. In this article, we’ll dive into actionable, little-to-no-cost practices to create compelling video content to make your overall campaign stand out.
Step #1. Define your target audience
Before you start creating video content, it's important to understand your target audience.
- Who are they?
- What are their interests?
- What problems are they trying to solve?
By answering these questions, you can create video content that resonates with your target audience and helps you achieve your marketing goals. Remember that the main purpose of your video is to offer your audience a solution to their problem. So, in order to help them make their lives easier, you need to understand them first.
Step #2. Tell a story
Gone are the days when video marketing was hard-selling and shoving the product down customers’ throats. It’s all about highlighting the pain points and showing how you can help them with the solution you offer, and packing them into a story.
People love stories, and video is an excellent medium for storytelling. Whether you're creating a promotional video or a product demo, try to tell a story that connects with your audience on an emotional level. A good story can help you grab people's attention, keep them engaged, and ultimately drive more sales for your business.
Step #3. Keep it short and sweet
In today's fast-paced digital world, attention spans are shorter than ever. That's why it's important to keep your videos short and sweet. Try to keep your videos under two minutes, and focus on delivering your message in a clear, concise manner.
The audience’s attention span is only getting shorters, and shorter videos are highly embraced by popular social media (i.e., TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts). Create a concise video that packs a punch from the get-go. The old adage “save the best for the last” isn’t applicable here.
A short but captivating video helps you grab people's attention and keep them engaged from start to finish.
Step #4. Use high-quality visuals and sound
If you create a professional video like explainer videos or product demo videos, the quality of your video content is crucial to its success. Poor-quality visuals and sound can turn off viewers and hurt your brand image.
Consider Investing in high-quality equipment, such as a good camera and microphone, and pay attention to lighting and framing. This will help you create professional-looking videos that make a positive impression on your audience.
However, if you create videos for engagement, raw and authentic videos taken from your smartphone can be a better, low-cost way to generate more audiences and build a solid audience base.
Step #5. Optimise for search
When creating video content for small business marketing, it's important to optimize for search engines. Use relevant keywords in your video titles, descriptions, and tags to make it easier for people to find your content online. You can also include a transcript of your video on your website to help with search engine optimization (SEO).
Step #6. Promote your videos
Creating great video content is just the first step. You need to promote your videos effectively to get the most out.
Share your videos on social media, embed them on your website, and use email marketing to reach out to your audience. You can also consider running paid ads to reach a wider audience. This can be in the form of animated ads, live-action ads, and so on.
Step #7. Measure your results
Finally, it's important to measure the success of your video content. Use analytics tools to track metrics such as views, engagement, and conversions.
This will help you understand what's working and what's not, so you can continue to improve your video content over time.
Wrapping up
Creating compelling video content for small business marketing is a powerful way to connect with your audience and grow your business. By following these key strategies, you can create effective video content that engages your audience, builds brand awareness, and drives more sales for your business.
