Let's start with the obvious: transforming retail with YouTube is "SO Freakin' Easy!!!!" It is easier than sliding butter across a warm crusty slice of home-baked bread. The problem you are having is actually getting an audience to listen to and watch your content. You are having problems because people are not stupid.

They don't watch your promotional material because they suspect they will be susceptible to it. This article offers methods for gathering together an audience and influencing it.

But first, let's examine why transforming retail with YouTube is so easy.

Kids are doing it

Perhaps one of the biggest missed opportunities for retail traders is the sort of free video advertising offered by social media networks. It is so easy that kids are doing it. Here are a few examples that you can try right now.

Video demonstrations

If you are not putting out video demonstrations of your products, you can be sure that other people are. Yet, why let them control the narrative? You should be demonstrating your own products in the best possible light (positive bias) as possible.

Side-by-side comparisons

Put your stuff and your competitor's stuff side-by-side and explain how yours is better than theirs. This is far better than letting strangers create "Honest" comparisons where your products may lose the race.

Unboxing videos

Thirteen-year-old kids are managing to break 100K views on these types of unboxing videos, and the reason for this is that adults and businesses have ignored this type of content for much too long.

Review videos

Again, why are you letting some snot-nose kid review your products when you could be reviewing your own products? Are people going to watch a poorly edited video from a stranger over your slickly edited, well-produced review?

Stress-test videos

Just how many fans can your PC hold? Will your deep fat frier work while dangling from a light aircraft? Can your remote control car pull a fat dog? Don't leave these types of videos to the Mr Beasts of the World when you can do them yourself.

Competition Videos

Typically something you see on Facebook and Twitter, but still valid on YouTube if you angle it right. Try the Shorts system for this since they don't stick around too long, so there is a ticking clock aspect.

Video tutorials

Companies that do these for themselves almost always come out on top. You know your product better than anybody, so you should be the one showing people all the life hacks and top tips.

Gather Together An Audience

As mentioned, there are kids getting thousands of followers. They try to monetize their accounts, but they only make a few dollars per month, so they give up and sell their account. You can find YouTube channels for sale at Fame Swap. You can promote your products and services directly to the audiences, or you can win them over and to your primary social media accounts. Either way, this is the most efficient way to gather a large audience full of your target audience.

Making a bigger impact

Once you have your audience and your catalogue of videos, you need to start generating buzz and attention. The most efficient way is to use a service like Shoutcart and get in touch with some people who are already influencers. They cast a little sunlight in your direction to illuminate your videos, and people start to watch and follow you.

If enough people pay attention, then YouTube takes that as a sign your content is pretty good and will recommend you to other people with the hopes your channel will grow. If done correctly, you will see a stream of new subscribers every month, even if you are not putting out videos every month.
